Councillor Fisher’s intervention helps restore order in Highlands North

After months of complaining and being taken from pillar to post, a resident of Highlands North has finally got the attention of the authorities and her situation was swiftly resolved.

A resident, who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, has been complaining about the rental trucks parking near her house blocking her driveway.

According to the source, she has confronted the neighbour who owns the trucks but has been ignored since last November.

She then sent an email to Ward 74 councillor David Fisher which the North Eastern Tribune team has seen, but claimed she was not happy with the response.

Her complaint was that the trucks are parked closer to her driveway and whenever she needs to leave the house it becomes difficult to get out.

“I then approached the neighbour but he failed to attend to my complaint and he was just rude to me,” said the source.

“I’ve been to Norwood Police Station to report this but they couldn’t assist me and I then went to the offices of the regional Metro police and was only issued reference numbers but there was no action taken.”

On 17 January, the source sent an email to Tribune seeking assistance.

When contacted on 20 January, Fisher sent an email to the Metro police who then, according to the councillor, attended to the situation.

“JMPD attended the site this morning [20 January] and interacted with the owner. He has undertaken to remove the trucks by the end of the day,” said Fisher.

The trucks are believed to have been removed and the situation has been resolved.
