IN TWEETS: Twitter users share frustration as Eskom’s pilot programme fails Sandton CBD

SANDTON – Roads in and out of Sandton CBD were absolutely gridlocked yesterday when the load shedding schedule was abruptly extended by two hours.

Sandton CBD came to a complete standstill yesterday afternoon (3 February) when the block’s load shedding schedule was unexpectedly extended by two hours into peak afternoon traffic.

Eskom announced that it will be implementing Stage 2 rotational load shedding until 6am on Thursday, 6 February with the exception that it would suspend power cuts during peak traffic hours.

“Suspending load shedding during the peak traffic hours is a pilot programme aimed at achieving an appropriate Load shedding Philosophy for the country,” the utility noted in a press statement.
