Community to elect new Norwood community patrollers
NORWOOD – Members need reside within the Norwood policing precinct to participate.
A new executive committee of the Norwood Community Policing Forum is expected to be elected soon and residents in the area are invited to participate.
According to the spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station, Sergeant Eric Masotsha, the elections are expected to be held on 26 February.
Masotsha said the nomination process is currently underway with eight positions, including additional members, open for contestation.
He said the positions are a chairperson and a deputy, a secretary and a deputy as well as those of a public relations officer and a treasurer.
Then, among the community, there will be two more positions for the general committee members as additional members, Masotsha added.
“The general public can attend as observers and anyone within your sector may be nominated to stand for elections,” he said.

To stand for elections, a person needs to reside within the area which is served by the Norwood Police Station.
For those who are interested in participating in the executive committee are advised to visit the station to enquire further about possible ways of participating.
Masotsha encourages all residents residing in the areas within the Norwood police precinct to make themselves available and participate in the elections of the new CPF committee structure.
