22 promoted from constables to sergeants
PARKVIEW – The 22 officers who were promoted from constable to sergeant look forward to giving even better service to communities.
Local officers were ecstatic to receive their advanced rank badges.
The men and women in blue took part in the mini-ceremony held on 20 March. Spokesperson for the station, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said police officers had been promoted nationwide and 22 constables at Parkview Police Station had been promoted to sergeants. Members held a short ceremony outside the station where they held a marching parade before receiving their badges.

Station Commander, Colonel Theledi Gopane said this meant more responsibility for the officers. “We expect more professionalism from them. We’re expecting them to lead by example. There are new constables that need guidance. This gesture means there will be a lot more improvement at the station as we no longer have some disgruntled members.”

He added that promoted members were happy as well as the rest of the police officers. “I think our community at large will welcome this achievement as they will be served with professionalism. It is very motivating to see such a number of members being promoted seeing as our station is considered one of the smaller ones.”

The station commander with the assistance of his deputy, Lieutenant Colonel Lesetja Ledwaba and Lieutenant Colonel Fatima Gaffoor pinned the badges onto the recipients’ uniforms.
