Covid-19: Disappointment as 100-year-old’s birthday party is cancelled
ORANGE GROVE – The family from overseas will not be able to attend.
The Rayna Miller’s family in Orange Grove are disappointed that their granny, who is turning 100 years old on 10 April, will not be celebrating the day with her family due to the national lockdown.
The family was supposed to celebrate Miller’s milestone on 19 April but due to the coronavirus curfew announced by the government, this will not be possible.
According to Miller’s granddaughter Leeat Blatt, a family from overseas were expected to come through and celebrate this day with their great-grandmother. “My grandmother is British and we were expecting family and friends from England to come and celebrate with us since she is the oldest in our family,” said Blatt.

“We are disappointed that we will not be able to celebrate this day with a party because of the international travel ban and coronavirus issues. We are also afraid that she might also get sick because she is very old.
“Everyone was looking forward to this day but there is too much uncertainties, so that is the reason we decided the party should be cancelled,” she concluded.
