The Beagle Watch Armed Response Call Centre received a panic activation from a client in Atholl on 6 July.
According to a statement by the security service, three suspects had gained entry to the premises, possibly by lifting the gate off the rails. “The suspects tied up the domestic worker and elderly couple and assaulted the man. They robbed the house and fled,” the statement said.
“The man managed to free himself and pressed the panic alarm. Our officers were immediately dispatched and, upon arrival, saw the suspects, who fired shots at the Beagle Watch Officers.”
According to the statement, the Beagle Watch officers, who are highly trained to deal with any situation, took up a tactical position and returned fire. “The driver of the getaway vehicle was hit and he lost control over the vehicle and crashed into a wall. The suspects were then arrested by the Beagle Watch officers, and the stolen goods and housebreaking equipment were recovered.”
Medical assistance was called in and the case handed over to the Bramley Police Station.
Bramley Police Station Commander Colonel Owen King confirmed that four suspects were involved with three of the suspects arrested. He added that police are looking for the fourth suspect who was driving. “Two of the three suspects appeared in court as the third arrested remained in hospital,” Colonel King said.
He added, “There is a good working relationship between police and security services in the area. We plead with community members for anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the fourth suspect to come forward.”
