Roedean School staff were thrilled to have their Grade 0 girls at junior school St Margaret’s pop into school for a short orientation lesson on 18 January. Marketing and Public Relations director Khanya Warren shared that the girls were invited in small groups of five to meet their teachers and complete a short activity, after learning a little about each other.
“Our Grade 1 to 7 girls were able to pop in on 18 January to collect their stationery and learning materials, as well as greet their teachers, while preparing to start their learning online, the next day.
On the morning of 19 January, our Grade 1 girls dressed up in their shiny new uniforms and started their big school year at their online spaces. We received lovely photos of them with their at-home school buddies – whether they were a class of teddies or their furry friends,” Warren said.
She added that for now, like all Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) schools, they will be teaching a full-time online programme from Grade 0 to Grade 7, but, “we look forward to the day when we can welcome our girls back onto campus and engage with them in person. We are very lucky to have a staff that is committed to making the start of our girls’ school year as special as they possibly can.”
