Strong communities are built by active citizens

Norwood CPF Sector 4 chairperson Cebi Ngqinambi believes that strong and healthy communities are built by those who are actively involved.
“All subcultures, ills and developments start within our communities. It is therefore important to get involved and influence any changes/developments you want to see in and around your community. Communities are the building block of who we eventually become,” said Ngqinambi.
This is the third year that Ngqinambi has been involved in the Norwood CPF.
As an Orange Grove resident and mother, she believes being involved in the community is the least she can do to understand the neighbourhood and contribute positively to her children’s future.
She said it is her responsibility as a community member to lead and live by example.
Ngqinambi added that crime, drug dealing and homelessness are some of the major obstacles facing her community. She works with the CPF to raise issues that affect all residents in the community and aims to improve relations between the police and residents. “Without the CPF, a lot of wrongdoing can go unnoticed on all sides of our communities. Remember that without leadership, there is no change.”
This Women’s Month, Ngqinambi reminded locals that women are the future. “The revolution that is currently taking place is that women have a big responsibility to re-define success, wealth, politics and leadership.”
Ngqinambi concluded, “We are currently in a system that was designed for masculinity and it is not working. The world needs a more balanced approach to that of femininity and masculinity.”
