Give hope to young burn survivors

PARKHURST– Bet On Better needs your help in restoring hope to two young burn survivors.

Bet On Better is appealing to the community to help with raising hope for two badly injured children.

Bet On Better is a non-profit organisation which was founded by Parkhurst resident Nanine Levitz, Soldatos Ari and Jack Phalane. Their aim is to provide a platform for South Africa’s sporting stars to have an opportunity to compete internationally through fundraising campaigns. Due to the pandemic, the organisation has since widened its focus towards outreach work in South Africa.

The organisation has started a back-a-buddy campaign for the two young boys who were badly burnt.

“We want to raise money towards the cost of their treatment and to cover the costs of board and lodging, clothes and school attendance. “Children of Fire cares for many young burn victims, but it receives too few donations to meet all the demands,” said Levitz.

The campaign will help eight-year-old Bhombo who has lived with his injuries for four years and Omphile who was burnt two years ago when a primus stove exploded in his face when he was making food for him and his brother.

Both boys live at Children of Fire in Johannesburg where they are attending school and being looked after by social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and the loving staff who care for them.

Money raised by this campaign will cover the living costs of the two young boys and will pay for the treatment needed to give them a brighter future.
