Learners from King David High School Linksfield brave the Hollard Daredevil Run 2021

LINKSFIELD – School race organisers Joseph Joffe, Rachel Sachs and Kelli Hollander explained the race was held to raise awareness about male cancers.

Learners from King David High School Linksfield participated in the Hollard Daredevil Run 2021.

The run is usually held from one location but was held from venues throughout Johannesburg this year due to Covid-19 restriction.

School race organisers Joseph Joffe, Rachel Sachs and Kelli Hollander explained the race was held to raise awareness about male cancers. “We decided to get girls involved to support us with issues related to gender-based violence. We wanted to show them our support.”

The race is traditionally run by men wearing just purple speedos. The King David race included girls wearing tutus. All proceeds from the annual Hollard Daredevil Run go to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa, towards awareness and screening of prostate and testicular cancer. The Rosebank Killarney Gazette was there to capture the action.
