A non-profit organisation was ecstatic upon receiving a generous cheque from a local school.
Jumping Kids received a R100 018 cheque from St Katharine’s School in Parktown West. Teacher at the school Lindsay MacFarlane said St Katharine’s has a special association with Jumping Kids, an inspiring organisation providing prosthetics for children who have lost one or more limbs.

“Victoria Barry, a beloved old St Katharine’s girl, was an ambassador for Jumping Kids. She lost her leg, and ultimately, her life to cancer but has left a lasting legacy for us all. Today [March 25], Michael Stevens from Jumping Kids came and spoke to the school and gave us all goosebumps with his inspiring life story and message about finding our purpose. We were also able to hand over a cheque for the aforementioned amount which the girls raised in their swimathon earlier this year. The girls swam a total of 6 041 widths and 60.41km for this special cause,” MacFarlane shared.

She said the money would go towards helping a young amputee, Simnikiwe Bosman, to get the best possible prosthesis after losing his leg from a complication after a sporting injury.
