One arrested for dealing dagga

Dagga peddler nabbed in Melrose.

A suspect was arrested by Norwood police for dealing and in possession of dagga.
Norwood Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha said the suspect was arrested on May 10 in Melrose.

“On the above-mentioned date, police received a tip-off and upon arrival at the address, members led by Vispol Commander Lieutenant Colonel Prince Mogaila, and myself, entered an abandoned property. The property was searched and one male busy folding ready-to-be-smoked rolls of dagga and a substantial amount of various cannabis ‘dagga’ infused products and some cannabis ‘dagga’ plants in various stages of development were found.”

He said the suspect was arrested on the spot for dealing in and possession of dagga and he would appear in court in due course.

“The Norwood police management and its members commend members of the community for coming forward with this information which led to an arrest.”

He added that the acting Norwood Police Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Nthabeleng Mahoa commended police members for their swift follow up that led to the suspect’s arrest, and emphasised that police working together with the community would help in the fight against crime.
