Oldest girls’ school in Joburg celebrates 134 years
Joburg’s oldest girls’ school, St Mary’s School, Waverley celebrated it's 134th birthday
Johannesburg’s oldest girls’ school recently celebrated its 134th birthday. St Mary’s School, Waverley held the celebrations on May 26.
Head of marketing Kathy Mittendorf said the day’s festivities began with the school celebrating the Patronal Eucharist. This was followed by a picnic where the matric girls braaied pregos and hamburgers.
The birthday cake was cut with great ceremony and the school’s well-loved, traditional war cry When the Saints was sung.
