School in Saxonwold has a progressive week
An active an exciting week at Saxonwold Primary School.
The third week of May was a busy and exciting one for staff and learners at Saxonwold Primary School.
On May 20, congratulations were extended to the Grade 7s who attained their academic colours for achieving an overall average of 70% and above. Grade 6 learners achieved an overall average of 75% and above and they were also congratulated.
Sports achievements were not left out as acting principal Jadi Mgandela applauded the ‘phenomenal sports stars’ for attaining their captain badges. These included Andile Ndlela for girls’ netball, Christabella Songongo for girls’ soccer and Lethabo Malahlela for boys’ soccer.
On May 19, the netball team won against Orchards Primary School. “Excitement filled the air as our U11 netball girls and their coaches celebrated their victory over Orchards Primary. They won 20–7.
Well done girls and to your incredible coaches Patricia Ngwenya, Prudence Matsega and Cebisa Spambo.
“Thank you to all of you for giving your absolute best and a special thanks also goes out to our parents who support our school activities with love and passion. Without an effective parent-teacher-learner partnership, we would not be able to reach so many successes,” said Mgandela.
The school also wrapped up the month by celebrating Africa Day on May 25. “Our staff proudly celebrated this special day, wearing beautiful colours while reflecting on the accomplishments of people across the African continent and on the challenges they still endure.
The prospects on the horizon are bright, from Africa’s growing and vibrant youth population to initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area.
“But today, we are also reminded of the multiple challenges preventing Africa from reaching is full potential with this year’s focus on the importance of addressing malnutrition and food insecurity.
Let us continue to celebrate the enormous promise and potential of our diverse and dynamic continent and strive to help those in need in any way we can through new ideas and actions.”
