Tarven mass shootings highlights safety concerns

Local residents urge communities to work with police to improve safety.

The recent tavern shootings in Soweto, KwaZulu-Natal and Ekurhuleni have left some South Africans uncertain about their safety in public spaces.
The Rosebank Killarney Gazette team asked local residents how safe they felt after these incidents. This is what they had to say…

PATRICK MUKALA: The mass shootings at taverns speak to how unsafe our country and communities are.
DUDUZILE DLAMINI: Due to mass shootings being unforeseen incidents, I will not blame the government or communities for being liable; we need to work together to ensure safety among us.
GILLIAN MCLAREN: I am deeply saddened by the loss of the young generation in such mass shootings. I am concerned about the safety of young people during such scary times.
