Partner schools in Parktown and Soweto revive longstanding tradition

DSJ in Parktown participates in two days of song, crafts and traditional clothing with Thabisile Primary School in Soweto.

Two days filled with games, crafts and lots of laughter were had by learners of partner schools in Parktown and Soweto.

After two years of not being able to uphold a longstanding tradition, the Deutsche Internationale Schule (DSJ), Parktown, Grade 4 learners were once again able to welcome learners and teachers from their Soweto partner school, Thabisile Primary School.

Some opt for traditional games for their fun activities.
A day filled with enjoyable activities is appreciated by DSJ and Thabisile Primary School learners.

DSJ Primary School deputy principal Lene Schnackenberg said the visit from Thabisile Primary School was on August 10 and DSJ went to Thabisile on August 16.

“The Grade 4 learners from Thabisile got dressed in their traditional clothing for the welcoming song which they sang upon arrival.

DSJ and Thabisile learners connect and make friends on the school fields.

During the morning activities some of the DSJ learners were also given some traditional clothing to try on. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all,” Schnackenberg said.
