DP World Lions Cricketer Jameela Shaikjee juggles her passion with academics

Jameela Shaikjee believes failure is a stepping stone to success.

DP World Lions Cricketer Jameela Shaikjee said playing the game she was passionate about had not been easy.

“Life as a female cricket player tends to be a tad bit difficult because I could not make it a career which resulted in me studying to get a degree and getting a full-time job. However, it is still an honour and privilege to play in the provincial setup.”

Shaikjee added that coming from a small town in Kwa-Zulu Natal, one could only dream about reaching such [provincial] levels with hard work, dedication and consistency.

The Lions cricketer noted that the road to success in whatever career path one chose was not always smooth.

“There will be many times when you will fall but all that matters is how fast you get up and how hard you keep pushing. There will be times when one will want to just give up. That’s where patience and believing in yourself comes into play and without that, it will be really difficult to achieve your goal.”

Shaikjee believed that failure was the stepping stone to success because after many years of hard consistent work coupled with patience, got her to the point where she was today.
