Local schools welcomed their Grade 1s who began their schooling journey with smiles and excitement on January 17.
Norwood Primary School Grade 1 head of department Heather Mills said the school was excited to receive a new group of Grade 1s.
“We have had a great turnout and the admission this year has been fantastic because things have run smoothly. Our aspirations are very high and look forward to having a great year.”
Grade 1 learner Oarabile Motloutsi said he was excited about his first year at school and wanted to be a traffic officer.
Saxonwold Primary School headmaster Muhammad Ameen Khan noted that day one of the new year and term was spectacular and it was great to welcome their new learners including Grade 1s.
“The Rosebank Police Station officers visited our school as well this morning to ensure that our learners are safe. We are enthusiastic about the year and have big plans for the school.”
St Teresa’s Junior School Grade 1 learner Yeva Saramago added she was happy to see her friends after the festive season.
The Junior School’s headmistress Lynne Elfick wished the learners a prosperous year. “To our precious Grade 1 Rosies, may your days be filled with laughter, curiosity, and the joy of discovery. We are committed to helping each one of you blossom into the best version of yourselves.”
