Local paddlers showed off at the Gauteng Canoe Union

The Gauteng Canoe Union provided the opportunity for local paddlers including canoeists from The Ridge School, to participate in the Sprint Championships, on January 20.

The Gauteng Canoe Union provided the opportunity for local paddlers including canoeists from The Ridge School, to participate in the Sprint Championships, on January 20.

The contest was to enable the selection of the best team in all age groups. These Gauteng paddlers represented the province at the South African Sprint Championships from January 22–24, at Germiston Lake hosted by the Victoria Lake Canoe Club.

Paddlers from The Ridge School who participated in the U12 race at the provincial championships included Mark Ibister, Cayden Wilson, and Matthew Kuhl.

Gauteng Canoe Union communications officer Jennie Dallas said, “Young juniors from The Ridge School in Westcliff enjoyed their first challenge of the year and the smiles and excitement were visible on their faces.”
