Parktown Girls High School learner to play at inter-provincial tournament

Jenna Kinloch was selected for the North-Western Gauteng action netball U16 A team.

Parktown High School for Girls learner Jenna Kinloch ticks off a goal after being selected for the North-Western Gauteng Action Netball U16 A Team that will compete in the inter-provincial tournament in March.

Kinloch’s netball journey began in Grade 1 and at the end of Grade 7, she was awarded the Sports Woman of the Year 2021 trophy, with netball as her main sport.

She said she felt fortunate to have made the team and to be selected for the North-Western Gauteng Action Netball U16 A team. “It has always been my ambition and one of my goals. It feels good to be a part of a group of other talented netball players.”

The 16-year-old explained that for outdoor netball at school, she trained twice a week after school and once a week in the mornings.

“For indoor netball, I have one, and sometimes two practice games on Friday nights and then fitness and skills training on Saturday. I also take time out of my day during the week or on Sundays to practise my shooting at home or do ball skills.”

She concluded that if given the opportunity, she would play professional netball.

“The only challenge is that the competition is tough among the players with the same goals. This will therefore make it a bit difficult to make it in the team but it is something I strive for without losing sight of my studies.
