South Africa’s culinary landscape is about to witness a seismic shift with the grand opening of Sec, a restaurant nestled within the sophisticated confines of Clico Boutique Hotel.
Sec opened its doors on April 10 and was attended by influencers and media colleagues. Conceived by the visionary Chef Dario de Angeli, renowned for his innovative culinary approach, Sec promises to redefine dining experiences.

At Sec, every detail is meticulously curated to provide an unparalleled journey for the senses. The restaurant’s design is an ode to lightness and airiness, blending organic African and Eurocentric themes seamlessly.
“We want to influence the way people eat and the decisions they make about their food. Our goal is to create memorable tasting experiences that leave our guests rested, calm, and more knowledgeable,” said de Angeli.
The name ‘Sec’ embodies the restaurant’s playful spirit, with a modern and catchy logo, Sec invites guests to “take a sec” and savour the moment, both in dining and in life.

Clico Boutique Hotel owner, Jeanette Schwegman highlighted that she established Clico in 2006, “It was a residential home that I bought in 2005 and renovated it to a seven-roomed guesthouse. “
Schwegman added that although Covid-19 was tough on many businesses, she was fortunate enough to reach out to Dario who soon became the head chef and helped with the naming of the restaurant and the concept of the menu.
