Highlands Park U11 faced with setback as Field Runners secure late victory

Highlands Park lost the U11s match against Field Runners in a game that kept spectators on their feet.

In an exciting match in the Prem League, Highlands Park faced off against Field Runners. Despite the valiant effort put in by Highlands, it was Field Runners who emerged victorious with a final score of 3–2. The match, which kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the final whistle, saw goals from Highlands’ Nate Herr and Dean Berger contributing to their spirited effort on the field.

Highlands Park, led by coach Kiev Esterhuizen, had been enjoying a successful debut season in the Eastern League, currently sitting in a commendable fourth place. The team showcased their talent and determination in the match, earning them recognition as a formidable force in the U11 division.

Coach Kiev says, “I think my boys showed resilience; showed character. They left everything on the field. In terms of the overall game, I think our boys played very well. We had good chances in the second half to get back in the game, even to win the game, but we weren’t clinical enough.”

On the opposing side, Field Runners, under the guidance of coach Shingirai Kutama, made their debut in the league with a determined performance. Despite being newcomers, the team demonstrated remarkable tenacity, securing a crucial victory over a formidable opponent. Currently positioned ninth out of 11 teams, Field Runners showcased their potential to compete at the highest level.

Reflecting on the match, coach Kutama expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, stating, “Actually, the game was just okay. We didn’t come in with the expectation of winning. We just wanted to put up a good fight. However, we did end up with better results than expected, so we can consider it a lucky day.”

The match itself was a testament to the passion and dedication of these young athletes, with both teams leaving it all on the field in pursuit of victory. Spectators were treated to a spectacle of fast-paced action, dazzling footwork, and moments of brilliance from players on both sides.
