The association’s chair Philanie Jooste said this was this was their first spring run and walk and would become an annual event in the future. “It is not often that locals get the opportunity to explore this treasured green space,” said Jooste. “The lovely spring weather played along and participants walked a 2.5 km circular route with the option to go around twice to get to 5km. Most participants walked, connected with friends and neighbours, and appreciated nature, but there were also a few runners.”
Jooste added funds raised through the event would go towards upgrading and maintaining the local parks and communal gardens and keeping Parkview and Greenside East’s streets tidy. She expressed her delight with the turnout and extended her appreciation to Parkview Golf Club for hosting the run, the event sponsor, Dial a Nerd, and Pam Golding Properties, who provided water and registration assistance.
