A seven-month-old excavation in Fairmount remains a danger

The fixing of a seven-month-old excavation at a Shell Garage in Fairmount continues to drag on.

A seven-month-old excavation linked to a now fixed leaking pipe at Shell Garage in Fairmount continues to be a cause of concern.

A Gazette reporter visited the excavation on August 15, where she was met by one of the garage managers who explained that the first excavation on the garage’s driveway, which posed a danger to motorists, was recently reinstated after a homeless person fell into it.

The second and seven-month-old excavation near a tree had no sign of being fixed; instead, it was filled with water and exposed pipes.

Johannesburg Water was contacted for comment, and the story will be updated accordingly after the comment has been received.
