Regional operations’ head of department Khaya Gqibitole explained: “Our teams made the area safe as a precautionary measure for road users. Plans are underway to excavate the entire road section as preliminary assessments indicate the possibility of a dislodged storm water or sewer line that runs beneath the road as the cause of the collapse.”
