JRA confirms Jan Smuts Ave broken storm water drain repairs are in progress

JRA team will complete the outstanding kerb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs in Jan Smuts Ave once the weather allows them to.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) confirmed to the publication, on November 28, that the repairs for the damaged storm water drain on Jan Smuts Avenue in Craighall were in progress.

JRA’s regional operations manager Khaya Gqibitole explained: “The repairs are still in progress. Activities were halted due to inclement weather and the area is still wet.”

Gqibitole added that the team will resume operations to complete the outstanding kerb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs.

Last week, Johannesburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala said Johannesburg Water deployed its leak detection team to conduct a thorough investigation to find the source of the leak. “The team spent Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday locating the leak. The source of the water running down the road is a blocked storm water drain. The water was running down the road instead of going into the storm water drain, making it appear as if it’s a pipe leak.”

The publication will continue to be in contact with JRA and update the article with the progress they are making.
