DP World Lions reflect on a powerful 2025 and look ahead to an exciting 2026
Jono Leaf-Wright reflects on a remarkable 2025 for the DP World Lions and invites supporters to share in an exciting 2026 filled with international fixtures, SA20 action, and community pride.
As 2025 draws to an end, the DP World Lions are taking a moment to look back on a year filled with achievement, community spirit, and memorable moments both on and off the field.
Reflecting on the past 12 months, DP World Lions CEO Jono Leaf-Wright said he could not be more proud of what the team and its wider family have accomplished. “We hit 2025 hard,” he said.
“We struck the sweet spot in both our on-field and off-field efforts, and for that I am incredibly proud. We celebrated good players and grew great people. We impacted, influenced, and inspired greatness and growth at every level.”
Leaf-Wright emphasised that the success of the year would not have been possible without those who make up the Lions community. “None of this would’ve been possible without the support of our cricketing community far and wide,” he said. “I thank you for striding forth with a positive attitude, tremendous energy, and a deep-rooted pride in the Lions Cricket family and everyone who works tirelessly to grow the game we love.”

He highlighted the busy and exciting months to come. “SA20 starts on January 1, 2026, with the Joburg Super Kings kicking off the new year in style,” he said.
“Then we end January with the special Pink Day on the 31st, when our Protea men take on the West Indies in a T20 International. After that, our DP World Lions men and women will be challenging for titles in the 4 Day Series, One-Day Cup, and T20.”
Leaf-Wright encouraged supporters to be part of the celebrations throughout the season. “Tickets are on sale for all matches, and we would love everyone to join us, not only for the games I’ve mentioned, but for every fixture in 2026,” he said.
