2 suspects arrested for Hyde Park shooting

The two men questioned earlier in connection with the Hyde Park shooting have now been formally arrested and are expected to appear in court on charges of attempted murder.

Police have confirmed that the two suspects, aged 28 and 33, who were brought in for questioning following a shooting at Hyde Park on February 19, have been officially arrested.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the suspects are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of attempted murder.

Investigations into the incident are continuing. The arrests follow a shooting earlier in the day in which a 23-year-old man, who is an employee at the residence, was shot and wounded.

He was taken to hospital for medical treatment. At the scene, the K9 unit, Bramley station detectives and the Forensic Crime Scene Management team carried out investigations.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown at this stage. Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.
