Reflecting on the leadership our times demand

Each year, Nelson Mandela International Day offers an opportunity not only to honour the life and legacy of one of South Africa's greatest leaders, but also to reflect on the values that continue to inspire positive change within our communities.

In a world marked by uncertainty, rapid change and complex social challenges, the question of leadership has never been more relevant. What qualities are needed to lead with integrity, compassion and purpose? How can values-based leadership help individuals and communities navigate the realities of today’s world?

These are among the important questions that will be explored during A Critical Dialogue on Values-Based Leadership for Current Times, a community event taking place in honour of Nelson Mandela International Day.

Facilitated by Amalia Hendricks and Sister Pratiba, the dialogue aims to create a welcoming space for thoughtful conversation and shared reflection on the principles that underpin ethical and values-driven leadership. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with ideas that encourage personal growth, responsible leadership and meaningful community connections.

The event will be held on Saturday, 18 July 2026, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, at 28 Judith Street, Observatory.

The organisers welcome members of the public from all walks of life to attend. Entry is free, although RSVPs are requested for catering purposes.
