Norwood police’s visibility discourages criminals
Norwood police urge the public to report suspicious-looking people and vehicles on 0800 10111 or 011 483 4609/14
Norwood police spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha confirmed that their station strengthened their visibility in the area.
“On October 31, while the police were doing their routine crime prevention at the corner of Algernon and Scholtz streets, Norwood, a silver-grey Ford Fiesta with five occupants was spotted and backup was called which resulted in a chase until the police lost the suspects as they veered off onto the M1-South highway.”

Masotsha said although the suspects’ plan to commit crime failed, he encouraged community members to report any suspicious vehicles or a person who roamed the area suspiciously.

The spokesperson encouraged the public to be vigilant at all times.
“Do not park your vehicles on the streets with valuable items but rather park it inside the yard. Don’t enter if there is a suspicious vehicle following you, rather drive to a filling station or, alternatively, call the police or your private security company to assist. Guest houses and lodges are also urged to beef up their security equipment due to criminals targeting areas surrounding Norwood.”
