GSport4Girls celebrated women in sports at Wanderers Club
Banyana Banyana women's goalkeeper, Andile Dlamini won Athlete of the Year award
Gsport4girls recognised and celebrated women in the sports industry at Wanderers Club on September 12.
The gsport4girls awards is Africa’s longest-running women’s sport recognition platform and its 18th hosting marks its enduring dedication to women’s sport. The platform unearths new icons and role models who are relentlessly breaking barriers, both on and off the field.

The winners of the evening included Natasha Petersen (Telkom Woman of the Year), Leila Steyn-Daku (Global Woman in Sport), Faith Kipyegon (DP World African Woman in Sport), Vusiwe Ngcobo (SuperSport Woman in TV) and Kgothatso Montjane (Brand SA Para Sport Star of the Year).
Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis was thankful for the Coach of the Year award. “This award goes to the staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes and coaches who put in the work and those who came before us because without their foundation we wouldn’t be where we are,” she said.

Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nocawe Noncedo Mafu said the department was pleased to celebrate its nine-year partnership with gsport4girls.
“Sport is a big part of South African heritage, sport contributed significantly to national unity and fostering social cohesion. It is therefore no coincidence that we celebrate the gsport awards tonight during Heritage Month,” said Mafu.
