A fresh vision for retirement living: Meet Flower Foundation’s new CEO
Flower Foundation Retirement Homes is stepping into a new era with the appointment of Stanley Bawden as its CEO.
In the heart of Johannesburg, where the golden years bloom with promise, Flower Foundation Retirement Homes has stood tall for more than 60 years, offering a haven of care, community, and comfort.
Now, as the organisation enters a new chapter, it does so under the steady leadership of its newly appointed CEO, Stanley Bawden.
Bawden officially stepped into the role on November 1 this year, bringing a wealth of experience and a compassionate heart that promises to breathe fresh life into this well-loved institution. His tenure at The Living Link NPO, where he spent 14 years championing opportunities for intellectually disabled and learning-challenged adults, speaks volumes of his commitment to enriching lives. At Flower Foundation, he aims to build on this legacy, ensuring that every resident feels supported, empowered, and at home.

For Bawden, this is not just a job—it’s a calling. “To join an organisation with such a rich service history is both humbling and exciting,” he shared at one of the informal meet-and-greet sessions held across Flower Foundation’s villages. These intimate gatherings allowed residents and staff to engage directly with their new leader, who listened attentively to their experiences and hopes for the future.
The Flower Foundation management board chairperson Nombuso Ramokgopa couldn’t be more pleased. “Stanley’s track record speaks for itself,” she said. “His unique ability to combine operational expertise with genuine care makes him the perfect person to lead us forward. We know our residents are in excellent hands.”
Bawden’s vision for Flower Foundation is ambitious yet grounded: enhancing well-being programmes, fostering independence, and deepening the sense of community that has long been the organisation’s hallmark. “Our goal is to create spaces where life flourishes,” he explained. “Where our residents feel not only secure but truly celebrated.”
