Emergency water shutdown in Houghton and surrounding areas
Parts of Johannesburg are currently without water due a burst pipe in Houghton.
An emergency shutdown has come into effect in Houghton as repair teams work at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Central Street.
This urgent intervention is necessary to repair a pipe burst and has resulted in disruptions across some parts of Rosebank and surrounding suburbs.
Areas affected include:
- Westcliff
- Parkwood
- Forest Town
- Birdhaven
- Saxonwold
- Dunkeld West
- Hyde Park
- Melrose
- Illovo
- Parktown North
- Melrose North
- Riviera
- Killarney
- Parkview
- Oaklands
- Greenside
- Houghton Estate
- Abbotsford
- Dunkeld and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Residents in these areas should expect limited or no water supply until the repairs are completed.
Johannesburg Water has estimated that repairs will be completed by 18:00.
