Mercy Day united Sisters, alumni and members of the school community.
St Teresa’s School in Craighall and Rosebank recently celebrated Mercy Day, welcoming Sisters of Mercy, alumni and members of the school community for a special morning of reflection, connection and shared memories.
Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1930, St Teresa’s School has spent 96 years nurturing generations of girls through an education rooted in mercy, compassion and excellence.

This year’s international Mercy Day theme, Rooted in Mercy, provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the school’s heritage while looking ahead to its centenary in 2030.
Marketing manager Jessica Varty said, “The celebration brought together generations of the St Teresa’s School community for a traditional Mercy Day tea. Guests enjoyed performances by the high school chamber choir and senior primary marimbas, while Grade 7 ambassadors helped welcome and host visitors.”
The newly appointed 2027 high school head girls introduced their leadership pillars, and Grade 3 girls continued a cherished school tradition by presenting roses to the sisters and alumni.
Mercy Day was also an opportunity to demonstrate how the school’s founding values continue to be lived through acts of kindness and service.

Girls across the junior primary, senior primary and high school participated in outreach initiatives, including the high school girls making blankets for charitable initiatives supported through the Sisters of Mercy.
As the school prepares for its centenary, it has also begun collecting and preserving the memories and stories of the sisters, alumni and wider community who have helped shape its history.
At St Teresa’s School, the girls have affectionately been known as Rosies for generations. The name reflects a shared identity, a sense of belonging and a journey that extends far beyond the classroom.
From the youngest girls beginning their school journey to generations of alumni, being a Rosie is about carrying forward the values, friendships and traditions that connect them.
It is this lasting connection that gives meaning to the familiar school saying: Once a Rosie, always a Rosie.
