Tsoeu, originally from Sasolburg, arrived in Johannesburg after the tragic deaths of both his parents. What he found instead of work was life on the streets. Despite facing countless hardships, Tsoeu has remained determined. His book introduces readers to a little-known South African street language called Speak and Vroostaan, used primarily by the homeless to communicate quickly and effectively in challenging environments.
“I saw many people struggling with communication, and Speak and Vroostaan offer a solution. It’s a simple but powerful way to connect,” said Tsoeu. The language blends street vernacular with practical phrases, helping individuals navigate daily survival while also fostering a sense of community.

His time on the streets wasn’t just about survival. He found peace and hope through prayer, which helped him focus on his goals. The Rosebank Shelter, along with local churches, offered support, providing food and shelter during tough times. “Their help was crucial in getting me back on my feet.”
Tsoeu is now seeking sponsors to help promote his book and create a website for it, hoping to spread the message of Speak and Vroostaan across South Africa. He also dreams of producing a movie and a podcast to share this hidden language with a wider audience.
Though he has faced immense personal challenges, his story is one of unwavering perseverance. “If I can do it, so can others,” he said, offering a message of hope to those who may be struggling in their own lives.
Tsoeu’s book will soon be available as a downloadable PDF, and he invites readers to discover the power of communication in the most unexpected places.
