Jan Smuts excavation and pipe leak continues to worsen

Johannesburg Water delays to repair pipe leak on Jan Smuts Avenue.

The Johannesburg Water (JW) pipe leak repair on Jan Smuts Avenue continues to be delayed.

On June 25, a reporter from the Gazette alerted the JW team about the deep and hazardous excavation that was filled with litter on Jan Smuts Avenue in Craighall.

A few days later, the JW team was on site, but repairs are yet to be completed.

The reporter visited the site again on July 25, to see if progress had been made, but instead, the leak was closer to the surface and had worsened. What looks like blue pipes were left on the side of the excavation.

The Gazette will continue to be in communication with JW to find out when the excavation will be repaired.
