Tourism Month 2025 launches at Sakhumzi Restaurant at Zoo Lake
Tourism Month is set to celebrate Mzansi’s people, cultures, and opportunities.
Tourism Month 2025 was officially launched at Sakhumzi Restaurant at Zoo Lake today (August 13). Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille and Deputy Minister Maggie Sotyu outlined this year’s theme: Tourism and Sustainable Transformation, which focuses on growing the sector while creating opportunities for South Africans.

De Lille emphasised that tourism is a powerful driver of economic growth and job creation. She encouraged South Africans to explore their own country through affordable travel options and highlighted the importance of making destinations accessible, especially for young people.

The minister also spoke about the Tourism Equity Fund, which supports small businesses, and training programmes that help young people build careers in the industry. With South Africa set to host the G20, she called for fresh ideas and new voices to help share the country’s stories with pride.
Tourism Month runs throughout September and celebrates the diversity, culture, and people of Mzansi.
