Johannesburg bowlers roll at 2025 JBA Singles Champion of Champions Tournament

The Wanderers Bowls Club hosted Johannesburg’s top bowlers, as club champions from 19 clubs battled for the prestigious JBA Singles Champion of Champions titles across open, veteran, and novice categories.

The Wanderers Bowls Club played host to Johannesburg’s finest bowlers over the weekend. The JBA Singles Champion of Champions Tournament brought together club champions from 19 different clubs across the region on August 30 and 31. The two-day event showcased fierce competition in singles matches across novice, veteran, and open categories, offering a platform for both seasoned players and emerging talent to shine.

In the open categories, Wayne Rittmuller, of Belgravia, and Jax Jansen van Rensburg, of Morningside, claimed top honours, cementing their status as the city’s premier bowlers.

Veteran players Richard Barnard, from Rand, and Estelle Hertzenberg, of Linden, demonstrated their enduring skill to take the veteran titles, while the novice divisions highlighted rising stars, with Rikus Sonnekus and Juliet Gillies capturing the men’s and women’s crowns respectively.
