Parkview Charity Christmas Market promises festive fun and community spirit

The much-loved Parkview Charity Christmas Market returns to George Hay Park this November, offering festive cheer, shopping, entertainment, and a chance to give back. The Parkview Charity Christmas Market is back, bringing the magic of the festive season to George Hay Park from November 21 to 23.

Organised by Nicarela Charity, this year’s market promises to be the most exciting yet, with over 80 craft stalls, 15 food experiences, and a wide range of entertainment for the whole family.

Visitors can indulge in artisanal foods, handmade gifts, and the market’s signature champagne and oyster bar. The children’s zone offers far more than just jumping castles, featuring a silent movie experience on Friday evening, interactive play areas, and fun family activities throughout the weekend.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, local bands, youth jazz groups, school choirs, and community artists will perform throughout the event. Sports fans will also be catered for, with the Springbok versus Ireland rugby match screened in the beer tent on Saturday.

The market is open on Friday from 15:00 to 22:00, on Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00, and on Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00. Entry costs R60 for adults, while children enjoy free admission.

For 16 years, Nicarela Charity has been at the heart of community upliftment, distributing nearly R8m to beneficiaries across Johannesburg through volunteer efforts and local support. What started as a small neighbourhood gathering of around 1 000 visitors has grown into a major annual event attracting more than 6 000 attendees in a single weekend.

Daneel Jordaan, chairperson of Nicarela Charity, says the market is a celebration of community spirit. “The collective effort from everyone involved is truly inspiring. Volunteers, schools, residents, and businesses all play a role, and we deeply appreciate their dedication. Events like this show how powerful community spirit can be.”

“The Parkview Charity Christmas Market embodies the generosity and warmth that makes this community so special. Every purchase, every donation, and every act of kindness helps make a real difference.”

This November, families and friends are invited to join the Parkview community for a weekend of shopping, entertainment, and giving back in the true spirit of Christmas.
