The Wanderers Club invites hockey enthusiasts to attend upcoming trials
The Wanderers Club is opening its doors to prospective hockey players, inviting them to try out for the competitive team or have a little fun in the social games.
The Wanderers Club is calling on all hockey enthusiasts, especially those fresh out of university, to join the club’s team.
The club hosted a hockey open day on January 24, to expand the social and competitive teams.
Hockey player and member Bokang Raselomane explained that the day was intended to attract as many people as possible and grow the hockey team.

“Today’s aim was to get as many people coming from university as possible, either people moving back to Johannesburg, moving into Johannesburg, or anyone looking for a new club to join.”
Raselomane added that he was happy with the turnout, which resulted in a good number of members signing up.
“We’ve got about five or six new people that came down to sign up, and we’re hoping to see them at this week’s trials.”
For the next 3 weeks, the Wanderers Club’s hockey division will hold trials on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Men’s trails will be on Tuesdays from 18:30, and the women’s trails begin at 20:00.
“No one should be scared. Wanderers is open to every member, and we have social teams and the competitive team, so people can see where they fit in,” noted Raselomane.

Kgomotso Madiba, a former Durban University of Technology hockey player, said she jumped at the opportunity to join the Wanderers Hockey team.

“I’ve been seeing it a lot on social media, and I think it’s a great team. I’d also like to stay fit, and I believe the sport will help me do that.” Interested hockey enthusiasts can visit the Wanderers Club’s website for more information.
