Rosebank canoers were among the participants for the 75th edition of the 2026 Dusi Marathon

Iconic Dusi Canoe Marathon action saw Rosebank paddlers fly the Gauteng flag, with Robert Crighton and Marco Magni finishing third in the Gauteng contingent in a total time of 08:07:00 over the three days.

The iconic Dusi Canoe Marathon took place from February 19–21, starting in Pietermaritzburg and winding its way through the demanding river course.

Day 1 kicked off in Pietermaritzburg, while Day 2 tested paddlers with tough stretches en route to Inanda Dam, before the final push on Day 3 to the finish at Blue Lagoon in Durban.

Among the competitors were several paddlers from Rosebank, who proudly flew the Gauteng flag. Robert Crighton, partnered with Marco Magni, delivered a standout performance, finishing third in the Gauteng contingent with a time of 08:07:00 over the three days.

Another Rosebank paddler, Robert Levick, a seasoned Dusi participant known for embracing the race’s challenges, teamed up with Hardi Wilkins to complete the marathon in 13:02:00. Meanwhile, Michael Strachan and Piero Ioppo crossed the line together on the final day, clocking 16:33:00.

The local contingent showed remarkable confidence, determination, and resilience, proving once again that Rosebank paddlers are a force to be reckoned with on South Africa’s premier canoe marathon.
