St Columba’s Presbyterian Church’s impactful initiative has quietly been transforming lives week after week. Its soup kitchen, a cornerstone of community support, has become a beacon of hope for many who rely on its steady presence. Each month, more than 1 500 breakfasts are served to those in need.
From Monday to Friday, even on public holidays, customers are welcomed with warmth and dignity. Each person receives a nourishing offering that includes a cup of homemade soup, a piece of fruit, a boiled egg, and two sandwiches.
It is a simple meal, yet for many, it is a vital source of comfort and sustenance.

This week carried an added sense of joy. In the spirit of Easter, over 10 000 Easter eggs were generously donated by local schools and organisations. The church ensured that each visitor received Easter eggs, turning an ordinary day into something truly special.
The small gesture carried great meaning. Smiles replaced worry, if only for a moment, as recipients were reminded that they are seen and cared for.
