Sandringham High School welcomes a refurbished science laboratory
BASF South Africa’s assessment at Sandringham High School highlighted the need to upgrade science laboratories, educator wellness facilities and the reception area.
To commemorate its 60th anniversary and Nelson Mandela Month, over 100 BASF employees, customers, strategic partners and members of the Sandringham High School community came together on July 16 to refurbish key school facilities and create a dignified environment for learning and well-being.

Sandringham High School, a public secondary school, which serves about 1 100 learners, was identified as a beneficiary following a BASF assessment that highlighted the need to upgrade science laboratories, educator wellness facilities, the reception area and other spaces that support teaching, learning and learner well-being.

Pascal Rekhoto, the school principal, remained grateful for the company’s efforts: “They have done a great job at reviving our science lab. As a science teacher, I understand that a lab plays an important role because learners can make a meaningful understanding from what they’re doing theoretically.”
Wojciech Kulma, managing director of BASF South Africa, reflected on the company’s journey.

“Our 60-year journey in South Africa is a story of partnership, innovation and shared progress. As we celebrate this milestone with our employees, customers and partners, we wanted to create a legacy that extends beyond our anniversary and contributes meaningfully to the communities in which we operate.”
Kulma added that through this initiative, the company was investing not only in infrastructure, but also in opportunity, dignity and hope for future generations.
