Orange Grove March and March protestors hand over memorandum to Norwood SAPS
March and March protestors from Orange Grove handed over a memorandum to a representative from the Norwood Police Station, keen to attend a meeting promised to them by the station commander.
Orange Grove March and March protestors have blocked Grant Avenue while making their way to Norwood Police Station on August 5 to handover a memorandum.
Whistles, songs, and chanting filled the streets of Norwood as the crowd’s memorandum was handed off to a representative of the police station.
Khipinkunzi Ngubane, a Nduna from Orange Grove, explained that the memorandum detailed grievances the community had concerning foreign nationals in the community.

“We are here to tell the police about foreign nationals who are illegally occupying properties. We’ve been asking the police to involve home affairs in the process of verifying our claims, but nothing has been done.”
Ngubane added that he was relieved the memorandum was handed over to the station commander, who promised to have a sit-down meeting with the protestors in seven working days regarding the matter.
The Nduna noted that he was looking forward to the meeting and would return to the police station.
