I’m so excited for the year ahead and have no doubt that, together, the Class of 2027 will leave a meaningful impact on our amazing school.”
Mkwanazi added that the role meant being the school’s biggest supporter and creating an environment where everyone in the community felt seen, valued and inspired.
It is the responsibility of the head girl to act as a role model who inspires each student to represent their school with pride and participate enthusiastically in their endeavours.

Deputy head girl for pastoral care Chloe Chapman said her decision to seek a leadership role was inspired by previous matric leaders.

“Having gone through grades 8 and 9, I have realised how important the matric leaders are and I want to be that someone that younger girls can look up to and feel they can go to for guidance or anything that they need,” Chapman said. “I love Kingsmead College and am grateful to be at such a school, and I want to use that love for the whole school to inspire those around me to love it as much as I do.”
Deputy head girl for discipline and organisation Thandolwethu Mbatha said her role involved overseeing learner conduct and finding innovative ways to support effective school operations. “I have the opportunity to serve my peers and do all I can to optimise their academic experience and ensure that each and every learner conducts themselves as best as possible,” said Mbatha.
Mbatha concluded that her goal was to ensure every learner wore the Kingsmead College uniform and badge with pride.
