Councillor questions Johannesburg Roads Agency workmanship as potholes resurface in Glenhazel
Potholes that have emerged on a newly reinstated road in Northfield Avenue spark anger as Glenhazel road deteriorates shortly after repairs.
Ward 72 councillor Daniel Schay has raised concerns over Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) workmanship after potholes formed on recently reinstated Northfield Avenue in Glenhazel.
The publication visited Northfield Avenue in July when reinstatements were outstanding.
JRA acting head of department in regional operations Mpho Maruping confirmed that Northfield was a work in progress and tar work that was outstanding was scheduled for the following week.
The publication can confirm that the repairs and outstanding work were conducted according to the JRA timeline. The road, however, is now, once again, covered in pot holes.

Schay, who met with a journalist during a ward oversight on October 26, shared his personal observations and described the workmanship as shoddy.

“We waited three months for the road to be repaired and reinstated. The JRA team were here two months ago, but you can see that the tar used for repairs has been put straight on sand.”
The publication approached JRA on October 26 for comment and will update the article with its response, which is expected on October 29.
