LETTER: Drivers unaware of how to handle robots

I have been observing that over 90 percent of drivers don't know what to do at the robots with Rea Vaya bus and the turning signal on the robots.

I notice it especially when driving on Empire Road towards Auckland Park, at the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue. If one is making a right turn, one must wait for the green arrow to flash, with the big arrow (showing direction).

Instead, people attempt or rather turn right when they see the green light on the robots with an arrow showing only cars proceeding straight. When they do so they run the risk of being hit by the bus which also has right of way in both directions. I have talked to traffic officials and they told me they are teaching the drivers. I will send a video of what happened yesterday, when the car overtook me as I was waiting for the arrow and turned right into Jan Smuts Avenue. Fortunately, there was no bus from behind which he did not see.
