In response to the article, Car guards pay hefty daily price, Week ending 6 November, I feel this is disgusting on behalf of Balfour Mall’s management, but I’m prepared to wait for their side of the story.

If it’s because the guards have to “hire” the orange jackets, R15 to R20 per day, it is still steep. These jackets can be bought at hardware stores (without logo) for about R250 and at R70 per day, someone is recouping the jacket cost almost weekly, and they certainly are not being replaced weekly.
Also, how many guards are used daily? If they average 15 per day, Balfour is creaming around R1 000 daily.
This also begs the next question: How does Norwood Mall handle their car-guard situation? What about other Malls in your area of operation? I’m certainly looking forward to the next few editions.
