Final 15 golfers make the cut for SA final

The competition was fierce, and the knowledge that this was the last shot to qualify did little to ease the nerves as each golfer fought their way through the course for a winning score.

While many will have to wait until next year to try their luck again, it was pure relief and jubilation for the winners who finished in the top three of their flight and filled the final 15 spots to go through to the national final.

A total of 60 amateur golfers qualified across four regional eliminations hosted at Durban Country Club, Zwartkop Country Club, Royal Cape Golf Club and Houghton Golf Club and won an all-expenses paid trip to the national, which will be played in KwaZulu-Natal from 9 to 11 September.

The SA event owners, World Golf Events South Africa’s spokesperson, Craig Clay-Smith said, “The golfers can look forward to a ‘pro golfer tour-like experience as they battle it out for the coveted 10 spots that make up Team South Africa 1 and 2. The PGA of South Africa will once again be officiating the final and we will not be disclosing the host courses until the actual day to ensure that there is a fair and equal opportunity for everyone to qualify.”
