Highlands Park FC promoted to National First Division

HIGHLANDS - Highlands Park FC, commonly known as The Lions Of The North, was promoted to the National First Division after the team won their third consecutive ABC Motsepe Play off match in June last year.

Their next fixture will take place on 11 February. They are set to face Garankuwa at Makulong stadium in what is predicted to be a cracker.

The two sides will be looking to stay clear of relegation. Highlands Park FC is currently 13th on the log where as Garankuwa is 15th. Both of the sides are newly promoted to the National First Division (NFD).

Highlands Park FC, founded in 1959, has a proud history and a smooth collection of honours.

One notable player of the club was Martin Cohen, the founder of Jack’s Paint, who is a current sponsor of the organisation. He was known as a hard worker who covered all four corners of the field. He played a vital role for the club between 1970 and 1977, and was part of the 1977 National Football Championship Cup winning side. Cohen then went on to join the Los Angeles Aztecs where he enjoyed a fruitful career in the United States.
